It's already the middle of September. How did that happen? Summer certainly flew by. It's really hard to believe that school is back in session, football games are once again the norm for weekend festivities and that the dreaded cold weather looms. Can't I just go back to summer for a bit?
I love summer. I love the weather. Give me a 90-degree day over bitter cold and snow anytime. There isn't much that's better than relaxing by a lake in the hot sun with a good book to keep me company. Unfortunately, I didn't get out to the lake very often. Part of that may be because Austin is in Mower County, which is like the only county in the land of 10,000 lakes without a natural lake. I did take a lot of walks this summer, and spent some evenings on the patio with my book, and a few of my neighbors. We had some strings of very hot weather, including around the Fourth of July. We marched in the annual parade in Austin for work, a group of Austin Post-Bulletin staff and friends. It wasn't too bad. Plus, the drinks and eats at the local watering hole B & J with good friends and my family made it all worth it,
