An editor Heather worked with as a freelancer with the Chicago Tribune moved on to a new job with the Northwest Times of Indiana in 2018-19. He once again reached out to Heather asking if she'd be interested in writing a weekly notebook featuring local athletes for the sports section. Heather jumped at the chance for more sports-related work and each week consulted a list of local athletes playing collegiate sports, searched the internet for any recent notable games/stats/accomplishments and wrote 100 to 150-word briefs about five or six athletes for the weekly piece known as Region Collegians.
