Portfolio - Freelance work - Star Tribune
Heather's first byline post-college came in the Star Tribune in her first stint with the paper as a sports copy aide. She worked in the office taking high-school sports scores and also got the chance to cover a couple of games, too.
A few years later, Heather started her freelancing career with a football game in the fall. From there, she continued to work with the Star Tribune as a freelancer, covering mostly the high school postseason with section and state tournaments. Her sports coverage included football, volleyball boys' and girls' swimming/diving, baseball, boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' hockey, adapted soccer, adapted floor hockey, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' basketball, baseball, and golf.
For a brief period, she also covered the University of Minnesota Gophers women's basketball team and men's hockey team.
