This is the local newspaper in Red Wing, Minn., where Heather did some freelance work in 2011 writing area notebooks to keep track of local athletes playing at the collegiate level. Heather searched through collegiate websites for area athletes during their respective sports seasons to find information and standout performances. She usually found six athletes to write a few paragraphs about, including their statistics from recent games.

This story marks Heather's first published racing-related piece. As part of a job interview in fall of 2009, Heather conducted an interview and wrote this freelance story about Don Whitebear, a car salesman and race car driver in Red Wing.
