Heather is the Written Rule of Sports. She is an award-winning sports journalist, writer and author who is located in Minnesota's Twin Cities. She's covered a variety of sports at the professional, collegiate and high school levels. Coverage includes games and tournaments, and writing profiles and feature stories about athletes and sports personnel.
She covers professional hockey at the NHL and PWHL levels. Ahead of the 2026-27 hockey season, Heather became an independent correspondent for NHL.com. Check out her hockey coverage of the Minnesota Frost and more at WrittenRuleOfSports.Substack.com. She's the author of 13 non-fiction children's sports books. Heather earned a journalism degree from the University of St. Thomas and has more than a decade of experience working in the field in various capacities. From 2015 to 2023 she worked as an in-game social media coordinator for Major League Baseball and the Minnesota Twins, providing in-game coverage for the Minnesota Twins social media accounts. |

Minnesota Twins social media
During the 2015-23 baseball seasons, Heather watched nearly all the Minnesota Twins games from either the Target Field press box or at home, providing in-game updates to the team's Twitter account in her role as in-game social media coordinator.
