When the editor I connected with through the Chicago Tribune took a different job in Indiana, it also presented another opportunity for me with another newspaper. He asked if I'd be interested in writing a weekly notebook featuring local athletes for The Northwest Times of Indiana. Each week, I consult a list of local athletes who are now playing collegiate sports and then I search around the internet to see if there are any notable accomplishments. Once I have a few offerings, I write short, 100-150 word briefs about five or six athletes for a piece referred to as Region Collegians.
