I joined the sports website Cold Omaha in January 2017 to provide Minnesota Wild coverage and insights. Cold Omaha is under the Zone Coverage umbrella. I write a weekly column on the site focusing on stats, general thoughts on players and the team, and the potential playoff picture.

I also covered the 2017 boys' state high school hockey tournament (Class 1A and Class 2A) from start to finish, writing features, game stories and posting videos of the postgame news conferences with players and coaches.

When he was asked about the draft for a preview story before his 2017-18 season with St. Cloud State hockey, Poehling acknowledged he was a high pick in the draft but said it was just the beginning for him.
